Preamble

We, the students of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering of the University of the Philippines, in order to contribute to the sustainable development and responsible utilization of Science and Technology in the fields of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials in the Philippines, to develop direct and channel our engineering skills, knowledge and talents towards these fields, to promote student welfare and uphold student rights, do hereby ordain and promulgate this constitution and bylaws of the UP Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Association.

Description

The UP Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Association (UP 49ers) is a non stock, non profit organization of the Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (DMMME) students in the University of the Philippines, Diliman. A solid internal bond has always been the organization's direction: the UP 49ers legacy, a bequest that over the years has produced top engineers and leaders who have raced their way towards success, both locally and internationally.

The UP Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Association or the UP 49ers is one of the most established student organizations in the University of the Philippines, Diliman since 1954.

The UP 49ers differ radically from other societies because we are not plain acquaintances. We live with a true sense of brotherhood. There is an establishment of fraternal obligations. We build up lifelong bonds which aid in the development of the members to be capable professionals of the country and be supportive individuals to the fellow youth, inside and outside the UP community.
